I. Originating from the kingdom of Pajajaran / Bogor

It is said that at about XI and XII century Pajajaran Kingdom controlled all the land Pasundan ie from Banten, Bogor, Cirebon Priangan down to the area, at that time that the king is the king with the title of King BRAMAIYA MAISATANDRAMAN SILIWANGI.

Then on to the XV century with the introduction of Islamic doctrine developed by the Gujarati merchants from Saudi Arabia and the Wali Songo in this case is from Cirebon, Sunan Gunung Jati, from North Beach to the southern area of Banten, so the reign of King getting caught and fragile due to the many people entering the religion of Islam. Finally the king and the Senopati soldier and still faithful to leave kingdom into the jungle toward the south and follow the river upstream, they left their places of origin with such determination that is spoken in rhyme Tribe ceremony Baduy "Far dijugjug nu teu Ramlee, leumpang teu puguhnu diteang, malipir dina gawir, nyalindung dina mountains, mending keneh lara jeung wiring tibatan ngayonan kudu nu saturunan paduduluran jeung war, neither the jeung Baraya sa nu still keneh wangatua "

That means: much is uncertain that go (Jugjug), walking with no destination, walking by the cliffs, sheltered behind a mountain, it's better than shame and humiliation at having to fight with their relatives or family who is still a derivative "

This descent who now resides in the village Cibeo (Baduy Dalam)

With the characteristics: white-clad results of the hand (clothing sangsang), white headband, wearing a dark blue sheath (homespun) up above the knee, and carpenter's rare appearance to talk (if necessary) tapir maid, strong on customary law, is not easy affected, strongly opinionated but thoughtful.

II. Derived from Girang Banten / Serang

According to the story, that became Senopati in Bantam at the time was the son of Siliwangi King named Seda King with the title Prabu Pucuk Umum after Cirebon and surrounding areas controlled by Sunan Gunung Jati, so he sent his son, named Sultan Hasanuddin with his soldiers to develop the Islamic religion in Bantam and surrounding areas. So that the situation in Banten with the Prabu Pucuk Umum’s soldier leave the throne in Banten into the jungle and go along the river to the Upper Ciujung river, then this place they call Overtime Singkur Mandala Singkah which meant a quiet place to leave the war and eventually this place called Goa / Panembahan Arca Domas highly in culture.

This descent who later settled in the village Cikeusik (Baduy Dalam) with the equivalent of the village Typical Cikeusik namely: his character hard, indifferent, it's hard to talk to (only if necessary), strong against Customary law, not easy to accept help from others who are giving, wearing a white shirt (Grey) or from leaf fibers woven Pelah, white head band wear sarongs woven dark blue (above knee).

III. Berasala of Pangawinan Clan (mix)

The definition is from the mixing of tribal Pengawinan tribes who at that time there was coming from Sumedang, Priangan, Bogor, Cirebon, also from Banten. So most of them consist of people who are illegitimate is coused of Prabu Prabu Siliwangi and Prabu Pucuk Umum thrown into a certain area. Even this type is driven by developments follow the religion of Islam spread to many regions so blurred the township but there was also a vague wilderness jungle, so there are some who live in the district Guradog Maja, there continue to settle in the village Cisungsang Bayah district, and there are settled in villages and village Sobang Citujah Muncang district, then the places mentioned above there are similarities characteristic own. As for the rest of their partly dispersed follow / Ciberang down the river, and river Cisimeut Ciujung each headed up the river, and this group eventually settled in 27 settlements in Baduy Panamping (Outer Badui) Baduy village Leuwidamar sub-district of Lebak with cirri characteristics; dressed all in black, dark blue batik headband, the vehicle may be traveling with rose, sedentary farming, a farm worker, easy to talk but still affected the existence of customary law because they still be obedient and faithful to the customary law.

From tribal Baduy panamping in 1978 by the government held PKMT projects (community resettlement estranged), which are located in villages and Cipangembar Margaluyu Leuwidamar village and subdistrict Leuwidamar government continue to be developed by this project in the first and second Kopo village, ward and village Sukamulya village Sukatani Jalupangmulya Leuwidamar district.

Panamping Baduy tribe that has take place in outside of Baduy Dalam is called a Muslim, because this group has embraced Islam, and even some that have been conducted into the 5 pillars of Islam which is Hajj.

Jakarta Midnight Trail: Overnight at Spice Warehouse VOC

Jakarta Midnight Trail:
Overnight at Spice Warehouse VOC

Imagine Kastelplein early in Batavia, 1619. Castle Square (Batavia) - Kasteelplein - located right in front of the castle. On the left side and right side of this castle also extend spice warehouses. All this is part of the castle, including the walls of the City of Batavia. Not far from a castle, built the Gate of Amsterdam. Not far from the gate, flowing Kalibesar (Grote Rivier), which is the lifeblood of Batavia at the time. The wooden bridge built to connect the east and west sides Kalibesar. VOC is where power begins.

The castle which lies east of River estuary was built by Jan Pieterszoon (JP) Coen, Governor General of East India Company, after the first burn on the 1619 White Rose City. Not far from the castle, the port of Sunda Kelapa, Fort Culemborg, then the Tower of the Scouts' Uitkijk "- Tower Syahbandar, and the Lighthouse of Sunda Kelapa in Muara Baru, stood guard Batavia.

Difficult, indeed, to imagine the castle and its hall are gone. Documentation is just a painting. As ever written by Warta Kota, the former location of the castle is in the territory now called Jalan Ear (to the north). Across from a former spice warehouse ("Ostzydsche Pakhuizen") in which there is a remaining wall of the east side of Batavia. If the former spice warehouse at the time of the VOC and the side wall on the right, then the former castle land there on the left side. While there are now around in your kasteelplein Ear Road itself.

Now the condition of the former castle into a truck and become a slum. On land owned by Ditpalad they grew new buildings both official and unofficial. There was no sign that there once stood the Castle of Batavia.

Meanwhile, place to stay, a former warehouse building was none other spices VOC Maritime Museum. Maritime Museum is only one of many former warehouse store spices in the VOC. The building was built 17 centuries. There were tragic circumstances wooden barn, just behind the Maritime Museum. Warehouses in Pakin Roads whose age was younger than the Maritime Museum because it was built after the Maritime Museum - which enter in Westzijdsche Pakhuizen or warehouse on the west bank.

Nine conditions behind the woodshed Maritime Museum all under water since 1995. Water into the main sights and ex-warehouse building located in the middle. No one can trace the access to these buildings. There are only wooden planks former warehouses that used to pursue the road to the former warehouse building.

Of the nine former warehouses, only one made of stone. The rest of the wood. One warehouse, on the outer side, was torn down two years ago because it was very dilapidated condition. A warehouse filled with residents. The rest is empty. Mossy. Warehouse wall that is almost contemporary with the barn that is now the Maritime Museum, the roof had collapsed. The warehouses were located just behind the museum. Among the dilapidated warehouses that are now owned by the Company of Trade of Indonesia (PPI) also there is a remaining wall of the west side of Batavia.

The warehouses at the back of the museum were built 1663-1669 by Jacques de Bollan. In places where Mitra Bahari Apartments now stand, was once the shipyard. This shipyard is still entered in the west bank of the warehouse complex. Shipyards which are still intact and switch functions into a restaurant around at Kakap Road, Cafes and RM Kuring Shipyard.

Intan Bridge City should look beautiful at night, especially after the restored three years ago. Historical records mention, a wooden bridge which was originally named Engelse Brug (bridge near the castle England because England) and later renamed the Hittites Middelpunt Brug (Central Bridge) at the time of the VOC, then changed to Ophaalsburg Juliana (Juliana Bridge), was built in 1628 . First 42 years of Magere Brug (Bridge Magere). Bridge to Bridge City in exactly the diamond was in between two canals, Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht, and connect and Nieuwe Kerkstraat Kerkstraat Amsterdam.

Speaking of Old Batavia environment, the Community Historia Indonesia (KHI) will hold the event "Jakarta Midnight Trail: Staying in VOC Former Spice House." The event was held 27-28 March. "We have invited participants around the warehouse side of the road to the east, Port of Sunda Kelapa, City Diamonds Bridge, Asmterdam Gate, and Bahari Museum. We stopped and stayed at the Maritime Museum is a repository of the west side, "said Asep Kambali Chairman of KHI.

Maritime Museum of none other than the former part of the "Westzijdsche Pakhuizen" or the Spice Warehouse in Edge / West Cliff where there is also attached to the wall of the west side of the city of Batavia.
"We will also hold a discussion, and a movie Max Havelaar," he added. For this event are charged USD 80.000/orang participants and prospective participants may contact Alun at 021-978.90498 or register directly via SMS to the number 0813.8104.6352.

There is nothing special on the show this time because the anniversary was held in order to KHI-7. "Anniversary of his March 22 yesterday, but we make this event as well as shower in March 27 that," Asep said again, "We will continue trying to make history interesting to enjoy. Do not make people frown when they hear the word history. I believe no matter how small our efforts, for the past seven years there must be the effect. Most baseball, people become more like the Old City, getting to know about the history of Jakarta. "

Three Great Earthquake of Batavia

Three Great Earthquake of Batavia

WEDNESDAY (2 / 9), Jakarta was rocked by an earthquake for the umpteenth time. Jakarta is already familiar with earthquakes since many centuries ago. Although the earthquake record that has ever happened in Batavia was not easy to find, at least there are some historical records often call the three great earthquakes that ever shook Batavia.

Warta Kota never mentioned one of them, namely the earthquake in the year 1780 in connection with the history of Observatory Mohr, the first observatory in Batavia in 1765, built Johan Maurits Mohr. Robert H van Gent, in a paper entitled Observations of the 1761 and 1769 Transits of Venus from Batavia (Dutch East Indies), mentions; in 1780 an earthquake shook the Batavia and, for one, destroys Mohr Observatory.

Land's former location of the observatory is now in an alley called Gang Torong at Victory Road Raya (Petak Sembilan), West Jakarta.

Long before that, on 4 and 5 November 1699, Batavia had also a big earthquake. It was destroyed buildings, water supply systems, too chaotic. Willard Hanna Tale in Jakarta to write a book, the church has ever located where now stands the Wayang Museum, also destroyed in the earthquake.

Hanna also noted that the earthquake was then followed by volcanic eruptions and ash to flow muddy Ciliwung River. Another major earthquake records in Batavia is the year 1883 when Mount Krakatoa erupted. Yet the spread and no clear explanation is also another earthquake in 1833 and 1903.

While the first meteorological observation activities in Batavia was conducted January 1, 1758 but regular observations of meteorological and geophysics began in 1866 with the establishment of magnet and Meteorological Observatory (MMO) or the Koninklijk Magnetisch en Meteorologisch Observatoriu (KMMO).

In the book A History of Science in The Netherlands: Survey, Themes, and Reference, edited by van Berkel, van Helden, and Palm, mentioned, Pieter Adriaan Bergsma, scholars in the field of geology, was assigned to conduct meteorological and geomagnetic research in Batavia until later Bergsma become leaders in KMMO. The main task are climate research and weather forecasting for the long-term agricultural development efforts, especially plantation owned by the Dutch in Indonesia.

On the way, the name is institution and change. At the time of the Kisho Japanese Kauso Kusho and after the independence of this institution is split into two, namely the Bureau of Meteorology in Yogyakarta special charge of collecting information for military purposes, and the Bureau of Meteorology and Geophysics Agency in Jakarta, which is under the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation.

The task of Meteorology and Geophysics Agency is collecting information of meteorological and other geophysical. Since 1951 Indonesia became a member of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). In 1955 the Bureau of Meteorology and Geophysics changed the status of the Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics, and then in 1980 to the Meteorological and Geophysics Agency (BMG) under the Ministry of Transportation. Meteorological and geophysical activity which was initially limited to observation or rainy weather only then increased and includes a variety of activities magnetic field observations, seismic, and meteorology for various purposes.
